"What do I say about the most beautiful woman ever? What do I say about the most magnificent smile ever? What do I say about the most fantastic actress ever? Whatever I say won´t be enough. All I am gonna say is: they don´t make them like her anymore." - Karan Johar
"It is something you cannot help. You find yourself stupidly smiling every time Madhuri smiles. And that´s the kind of impact she has." - Karan Johar
"Post Madhuri Dixit, I don't think there's been any queen bee. The crown lies, without the queen." - Karan Johar
"Dancing is a blend of two thing, in cinema specifically it´s about your footwork - legworkof course and it´s about your face work. And Madhuri excells in both. And that´s a rare combination. She just adds so much expression - dance is expression - and her expression is just fantastic. And I think that is just Madhuri Dixit and nobody, I repeat nobody, on Indian cinema can move, dance and express in a song the way Madhuri Dixit does." - Karan Johar
“Madhuri’s someone I’ve known for years now, ever since Dil To Pagal Hai when I worked with Yashji. She just has to smile and that makes your moment that day... I feel really sad that I couldn’t ever work with her. She was on her last couple of years when I started. I interacted with her on Dil To Pagal Hai and feel special because I did. I’m dying to work with her and Sridevi. They really were the last of the empresses. Everyone else now are buddies – we’re on back-slapping terms. That whole euphoria, aura, status…” - Karan Johar
"Madhuri Dixit is the most solid man I´ve met in the industry.Yeah, you heard right. She´s truly like a man. She´s the most solid thinker, solid emotionally, solid believer. And someone who loves her parents immensely. And of course, her talent is unquestionable. She´s the complete Indian film heroine. She´d always help me with my dancing. I´d always dance a step behind her so I could follow her. Like in Koyla I would tell her just be half a step ahead of me, so it´ll be easy for me. And she´d oblige. I hope she comes back. I miss her. I miss seeing her more than I miss working with her. To me Madhuri is the epitome of acting, of love and friendship. She is closes to my heart. And from her I´ve learnt the most. She is the only one I feel I´m not as good as." - Shahrukh Khan
"I think you decrease the importance of Madhuri if you call her Madhuri the Dancer. I think Madhuri is a complete actor. And I can never ever think of Madhuri just as a dancer, though all the dances I´ve ever done with Madhuri she helped me immensely. I´m pathetic and she was really you know.... in one or two films she´s held my hands, when it seemed I´m leading her she´s actually leading me. YOu know, when I came into the industry she was a superstar, agreed to work with me, taught me a lot of stuff and I think Madhuri is one of the most complete actors Indian cinema has ever seen." - Shahrukh Khan
"For me Madhuri is the strongest man I´ve ever met. She´s very very strong-willed, she´s a fantastic actor, very very professional and when I worked with her first time I learned that there is greatness in giving." - Shahrukh Khan
"She is the most beautiful. One of the actors I have learnt a lot from. Madhuri´s always been there because she is in the heart. And I can´ comment on her dancing, she taught me, saved me from bad dancing." - Shahrukh Khan
"You know I´m very close to Madhuri.... I have a lot of warm feelings towards her. Many a time I´ve said this, that she has shown me so many times how to dance, helped me with my scenes, hid me behind her if my dance steps were wrong like in Dil To Pagal Hai." - Shahrukh Khan
"I like the way she dances. She has learnt Kathak, that´s what I hear. But basically with learning a little bit of Kathak or any form of classical dance it helps a lot in a film dancing. And we can see that in how beautifully she dances." - Hema Malini
"Look at Madhuri´s songs: Ek Do Teen, Mera Piya Ghar Aaya... and what have you? I mean look at those songs adn you will go mad completely! And here she was sitting as Chandramukhi in a set that was I think the biggest ever in Indian cinema and the way she performed! Every minute was a dream and Saroji was there and the first time she went on the floor and did that Maar Dala step I whistled and I clapped and it was completely an excersive of expression. Look at those change-overs within a shot, within a shot, every maar Dala is different, every moment is different and I was completely in awe of that performance and I wished I could keep shooting that song for another year, because you never get tired of watching her dance." - Sanjay Leela Bhansali
"Be it the character of the femme fatale or a prostitute, only Madhuri can combine that wistful tragic look. Hers is a blend of a flawless face and fine acting." - Sanjay Leela Bhansali
“I have never seen a better actress than Madhuri. She is showbiz personified. No one has ever been able to replace her as an actress.” - Sanjay Leela Bhansali
"She is a wonderfully graceful dancer and never looks unbecoming, no matter how cheap the movements are." - Sanjay Leela Bhansali
"Madhuri is a kind of dancer who looks fantastic no matter what she does and how she moves! She puts her heart and soul in her dancing. Out of the many actors who I have choreographed, she is the only one with whom I can experiment. I have given her so many weird dance steps but she still did it with ease!" - Saroj Khan
“It’s her expression, that’s the show stealer. However tough the steps might be, she doesn’t let go of the perfect expression.” - Saroj Khan
"I don’t think I’ll ever find another Madhuri. She’s in her own league. Nowadays, actresses make a face at rehearsal, but Madhuri would go that extra mile." - Saroj Khan
"When we were doing the take for the song (Chane Ke Khet Mein) which involved Madhuri dancing around Deepak Tijori, with Dholak in his hands, in a single sequence.. there were 15 retakes and shot was not getting completed. In the end Madhuri got a bit frustrated , tired rather, and went into her van. We all were waiting outside expecting response from her like "lets pack up" or "let me rehearse today and will do it tommorow" or "let´s split the sequence in two halfs" or "give me some easy steps" etc. But this girl, Madhuri, comes out looking all fresh and says lets do it and the shot got OK in first take. That´s her. Trying her best to not let others (co-actors dates, director's time, producer's money, her guruji's effots) down." - Saroj Khan
"Bollywood and Madhuri are synonymous with one another. You cannot talk about Bollywood without mentioning her. When she quit films and got married we lost our Kohinoor. I am absolutely mad about her, she´s got the most dazzling smile and her dance movements can give any actress a run for her money." - Jackie Shroff
“I fell in love with her when I was six and I watched her do the Ek Do Teen number in Tezaab . I’ve grown up watching her films. And every time I see her on screen, my heart starts beating dangerously fast!” - Ranbir Kapoor
"I remember the first time I met Madhuri. Someone I know brought her to meet me. This is before I became a director and she a star. The first thing that struck me was her innocent, expressive face. She was just a child, and awfully thin. I actually recommended a diet for her so she could put on a bit of weight. I have no idea if she followed it, but she changed drastically soon after. That first meeting is still imprinted in my mind, particularly because I had no idea that the frail little girl would go on to become such a huge star. She was polite, quiet and very humble. I must be the only director lucky enough to have worked with her in three movies. I must say that she grew by leaps and bounds with of them. What is striking is that Madhuri, the person, remained the same throughout - always humble, friendly, sharing a good rapport with co-stars and the crew. She has been a fine actress to work with and, more importantly, a great friend. I just met her last month and we discussed a few ideas. I would love to make more films with her, if I get the right subject. Apart from wishing her a very happy birthday and best wishes, I would want to urge her to make a comeback quickly because this industry needs an actress of her calibre." - Indra Kumar
"She got 100% everywhere - in emotion, in anger, in comic, dance, whatever emotion you needed. That´s areason why she became such a big star." - Indra Kumar
"It was during the shoot of Swati. I remember seeing a sweet girl sitting at the corner of the sets with her mother all the time. I didn't know who she girl. I was the hero of the film and my heroine was Meenakshi Sheshadri, who was a big star then. The girl was a reflection of perfect Indian beauty. I could see some kind of magic in her eye, but I didn't introduce myself. I only felt that she had the beauty of three great Indian heroines - Madhubala, Nargis and Vyjantimala. When I asked about her, I was told her name was Madhuri Dixit. She had the role of a tomboy in the film and was playing Meenakshi's stepsister.... Madhuri had an insignificant role but, while shooting, I found that her body, eyes and acting really synchronized well. It was unbelievable for me to see a first timer give such a brilliant performance. She rose from nowhere to become the biggest star of Indian cinema. No actor today can match her peak. One of my biggest regrets in life is never getting a chance to work opposite her or direct her. I hope to get a chance to do that in this lifetime. I think what set Madhuri apart from other heroines of her time was her sincerity. She has a million-dollar smile that resembles that of Madhubala and the actress Nimi. She manages to look sensuous in whatever she wears -- Indian or Western. She is also an amazing dancer. I can't think of any actress today managing to do what she did. I envy other heroes who got a chance to act with her. If Leonardo Da Vinci were alive today, he would have painted Madhuri instead of the Mona Lisa." - Akbar Khan
"She is a complete actress. There were some like Nargis who were known for their performance, Madhubala for her beauty and Vyajayanthimala for her dancing, but Madhuri is 'all-in-one.' She is complete. A phenomenon. Ashok Kumar once said that she is one 'complete' actress that India has produced in 100 years. I totally agree with him. There is just one thing Madhuri lacks: a single memorable hit that can be remembered in future. The people who handled her work were wrong. She came from a middle class background and, therefore, the agents she had were not good. She went to the commercial industry, into the hands of the wrong people. She is talented and a dedicated professional, but she still doesn't have memorable roles like Nargis did. As we didn't have even one creative director then, she had to do all the commercial dance movies. And I arrived too late in the industry... We do not have any great creative directors here who can exploit her talent. We had Satyajit Ray in Bengal and Adoor Gopalakrishnan in the south. The only good director in Bollywood is Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Therefore, though she had a successful career, she doesn't have that one movie which will remind us of her exceptional work. I first met her in 1995, on my 88th birthday. She was in Boston giving a live performance. Due to her popularity, there were 40,000 people just to catch a glimpse of her. Even people on wheelchairs were there. The audience whistled during her dance. She was a craze. When I met her, she told me we could cut my birthday cake in her room. I told her she was in the wrong hands, only doing commercial movies and that I would like to do a lot of things for her, to which she replied: 'Aap bahut der se mile' (I met you pretty late). She was very humble, down to earth and would treat everyone equally. She had no airs. I once saw her meeting some of her fans, and being very friendly with them. I told her she shouldn't be so close to so many people as one never knew what intentions they had. She replied that she was where she was because of her fans. Now she is married and a mother, and doing justice to that role as well. After her first child, I had stayed at her home in America. She is a good wife. She takes care of every detail in the house. She takes care of her child on her own and doesn't have a nanny. And, she is a good host. When her husband asked me if I would like to go sightseeing, I told him there was no need to go out when there was such a nice movie at home - Madhuri playing the role of housewife and mother. It was a perfect picture. I feel Madhuri should make a comeback again. And I strongly feel people will appreciate it." - M.F. Hussain
"She wasn't a typical Bollywood girl even at the height of her popularity. Often, I remember a small scene from Hum Aapke Hain Koun... it is shot by moonlight created in a studio. The way she performs, her total surrender to the camera is what beautiful heroines are about. " - M.F. Hussain
"Nothing can dim my obsession for Madhuri Dixit. No one has surpassed her grace, her skills, her pure Indianness. " - M.F. Hussain
“It’s not that she’s the only one in the whole world. But particularly for the big screen, in acting and how she used to play her roles — there, she was the master… a great artist. Certain actresses specialise in different things: tragedy, comedy and so on. But she was a complete actress. In that way, I think Indian cinema has not seen such a complete actress in 100 years.” - M.F. Hussain
"Madhuri is the most complete woman, the greatest star we have ever produced, the most amazing replica of Indian womanhood. The moment I saw her, I knew that Gajagamini had to be made. With her in the main role. She is beautiful, of course. But she is an actress of the kind we have never seen. It is her body language that is at the core of her art. Not just her jhatkas, her dhak dhaks. She is wonderful at that too but what I am talking about is much, much more. She has a sensuality that will redefine womanhood forever. Remember that song, Didi tera devar diwana? Remember how she bends down and takes those five steps backwards and bursts into song. I have never seen anything quite like this. It is outrageously sexy and yet almost spiritual in its impact. That is why I begin the film with her breaking out of a canvas of mine and becoming real. The real Indian woman." - M.F. Hussain
"She is wonderful. She is a treat. Just like you give chocolate to a child, for us actors it´s Madhuri Dixit. She is a delight to work with. It´s a pleasure to watch her onscreen. She is an actress, dancer and a performer. She is a very lovely person. She looks the same like what she looked like in Mohabbat. I cannot make out the difference between her age in Hum Aapke Hain kaun and Aaja Nachle. I think she is the same. She has maintained herself so well that she is looking just as young. I think she is just the same and a very simple person. She is very down to earth and lovely to work with." - Akshaye Khanna
"I like Madhuri Dixit the most. Her style, her facial expression... bahut kamal ki actress hai, kamal ki actress hai." - Akshaye Khanna
"Madhuri Dixit is the best dancer of this country." - Anil Kapoor

"To be in the same frame with her is really nice but to dance with her is a little embarrasing, because she´s exceptional. There can never be another Madhuri Dixit and nobody comes close to her." - Kunal Kapoor
"Madhuri is par excellence." - Sridevi
"When I think about Madhuri the first thing which comes to my mind is her gorgeous smile. I think she´s got the most beautiful smile in the world. She´s just one amazing actress and I compare her absolutely with my mum Nargisji, Madhubala.... She´s on that league you know." - Sanjay Dutt
"I really really admire her. She´s beautiful, she dances amazing, she´s a brilliant actress. And she´s a great person. Like what else?" - Konkona Sen Sharma
"Madhuri Dixit is amazing! We had such a ball. We hung around together even when we weren't shooting. Madhuri is such a big star. But she's so chilled. So fun loving and totally unaffected." - Konkona Sen Sharma

"She embodies everything a woman should be." - Vaibhavi Merchant
"She´s that kind of person who can carry off the whole dance sequence with only expressing. She needs not dance, she should just snad she should just express herself and voila!" - Vaibhavi Merchant

"Every time I was next to her I could feel a tingling all over my body. It was such a thrill to be working with someone as great as Madhuri. For a person who holds such an esteemed position in the industry she exudes an unbelievable down-to-earth vibe, besides having such a humble nature. It's hard not to get star-struck when she's around you." - Ranvir Shorey

"There are actresses and there are actresses. And then there is Madhuri Dixit." - Vikram Phadnis

"She is the most wonderful human being. Everybody knows that, she is a wonderful actress to add to that people have been complementing her performances all over the years. Of course she is a wonderful artist, she is a wonderful human being, the most hassle free artiste." - Yash Chopra

" - Yash Chopra

"There are only three stars in Bollywood: Madhuri, Madhuri and Madhuri." - Sajjid Khan
"When it comes to comparison, I always compare every actress with Madhuri and as a result every actress disappoints." - Salman Khan
"I saw her blooming into a flower from a blossom. A youngster, an actor, a mother ... I saw her living every roles because that is what she is, a quiet, straight forward, gentle and a benevolent girl. I never saw her getting tired in a shoot. Once Kajol saw her shooting for long hours and told me, she is like a perfect Hollywood Actress, a directors actress. She gives the director the shot he wants. She is a rare combination of beauty and immense talent. A perfect Hindi dilogue delivery voice, eyes and expressions as lucid as a mirror, a camera loving personality, dance and rhythm perfectly coordinated. And with such exceptional combination, she always stayed so simple at her heart. I never saw her with false pride or throwing star tantrums." - Gautam Rajdhakshya
"When I see her, I say ‘Oh, my God, there’s so much more to her’. It’s not just that she is the best dancer or the fact that she is tremendously graceful or feminine but she has a fabulously expressive voice. She is so wonderfully mercurial in front of the camera.” - Gautam Rajdhakshya
"I have shot close to 2000 faces, Madhuri’s is one of the best faces in my portfolio. She is like malleable clay. You just have to tell her what you want and she becomes that person. Temperament and talent made her the super star she was. I’ve had the opportunity to shoot her many times, from pre-Tezaab to pre-Aaja Nachle. There’s never been another Madhuri Dixit." - Gautam Rajdhakshya
"Madhuri has a supremely beautiful face, perfectly placed eyes, a wonderful mouth and small nose. Her body is proportionate, although not waif-like. She is a director’s actor. I have put her in ice, made her sit on watermelons, made her go around in circles over a hundred times; without wincing, she has done it all. She has that quality about her." - Gautam Rajdhakshya

"What Madhuri brings... is her incredible, incredible sense of dancing. It is not a type of dancing that she can´t do. Because...sometimes it is just a walk, sometimes just a gesture, sometimes just a look, but because her body is that one of a born dancer everyting she does is a musical theatre." - Anil Mehta
"She is an iconic figure of our times. For me she is a special performer. At the end of the day it was an enriching experience. She is a fantastic person to work with. "When you see Madhuri dance, it can't be spoken of, it just connects. These things can't be articulated. I had to watch the footage of her dancing again and again in the post production stage. “Madhuri is a flawless actress. She is a director’s actress. She can become exactly what the director wants. Take two films of her, Nana Patekar’s Prahaar and Subhash Ghai’s khalnayak. Can you see any similarity between the simple Madhuri of Prahaar with the Madhuri of Khalnayak? No you can’t? Because the two directors had different demands. So Madhuri had become two completely different Madhuri. But again she has so much power that the directors are compelled to think about her. I am saying this from my own feeling. The first thing that amazes me is her beauty. Her body and her look is like a Greek goddess. I have rarely seen such expressions of eye. She can portray so many things by only her expressions! So many colours, sadness, so many questions, love play in those expressions. I will say with only such expressions an actress can bewilder so many audiences in the dark room. But her amazingly versatile expressions have not been used properly yet. Her many talents have not been used yet. Her another big asset is her dancing ability. Madhuri has superb power to change herself. Take six photographs from six Madhuri film, you will see six different Madhuri! You won’t find any similarity among them, so much versatile she is! But then again, if you notice deeply, you will see the similarity because the face is the same only different shade is moving over them. It is an envying power. It will depend on the ability of the director how much he/she can use her versatility. Look at her face, like me you will also think God has not created a more beautiful face. It is so beautiful that I cannot think her in any vamp role. I would like to say finally that how much the actor Kajol tries to critic her beauty and talent, the viewer Kajol is obsessed with Madhuri mania.” - Kajol

"Madhuri Dixit. I loved her in ‘Dil’ with Aamir mamu. You know, despite all those horrible frilly things that heroines in the 80s and 90s wore, they really could carry films on their own. Madhuri and Sridevi could get an opening (at the box-office) on the strength of their name. Today, the girls seem interchangeable. I don’t know if it’s the scripts or the audience." - Imran Khan to the question who is the most romantic Bollywood heroine.

"It (shooting of a song with madhuri for Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan) was simply fabulous. I always wanted to do a film with her, but unfortunately we never got chance to work together and even when offers came they never materialised, for one reason or another. After doing a dance number with her in Bade Mian Chhote Mian I am even more eager to work with her. She is a marvellous dancer and actress. I hope some producer will soon offer as a good film." - Amitabh Bachchan
"Madhuri Dixit has always been a favourite. She was someone who in her era when it was all about the men when she stood her ground like nobody else has been. She to me is the quintessential and the best example of a commercial Bollywood actress. She had the right balance of realism and adha, the dancing, and everything. She was the right package. One obviously drunk Pakistan soldier screamed: `Give us Madhuri Dixit and take Kashmir. Who wants the rocky wasteland of Batalik anyway?' We screamed back saying, `Why just Kashmir, we will also give you Kanyakumari, but not Madhuri Dixit'!'' - one of the soldiers present :)
“There are so many technically-perfect actors and actresses, but few like him (Govinda) or Madhuri Dixit who enjoy the song and what they are doing - both these artistes seem to literally forget themselves and just melt into the song - and that makes the difference! Performing from the soul shows clearly in the results!” - Rekha
"The first thing that strikes one about Madhuri is the basic person. She has managed to retain her middle-class values, not allowed stardom to affect her. She is among the very few in the film industry I have connected with on a personal level. As an actress, Madhuri is yet to live upto her full potential. No filmmaker has done full justice to her talent." - Rekha

"Perhaps the most powerfull actress ever, her producers could ensure that a film would do well just because of her name. Such was the power of Madhuri Dixit. “Madhuri Dixit, Shilpa Shetty and Priyanka Chopra have never thrown tantrums...neither have they shown slightest sign of rudeness. During the shoot of Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, Madhuri had to wear a particular kind of sari for a scene. This was told to me at the last minute. I made the blouse in one helluva rush. This led to a problem in the fitting. Madhuri just smiled and said, "Don't worry...I'll manage." No anger, no tantrums. She pulled the pallu over her shoulder and covered the blouse. The scene is there in the movie. And hence, without a doubt, Madhuri is my favourite client.” - Nilufer Qureshi
“Madhuri is a perfect combination of acting, dance, expression and talent among all others.” - Vyjantimala
“Madhuri is the only complete actress that Indian cinema has produced in 100 years.” - Ashok Kumar
“I have sung most songs for Madhuri and Juhi. But if I have to pick one, it will be Madhuri. She just adds so much expression, that I always felt that all the expressions I had put in song were justified. In fact she used to better it. I loved to see my songs enacted by her.” - Alka Yagnik
“Unforgettable: that’s what Madhuri Dixit has come to stand for in the minds of anyone who loves the movies. And why not? After all, she was, for more than a decade, the closest thing Bollywood had to a female superstar, her popularity transcending class barriers and leaping over art and mainstream fences. Small beauty salons that dot the city where Madhuri became famous still have her posters in their windows." - Harneet Singh
"One has to agree that Madhuri is magical. She is pure magic onscreen." - Dino Morea
“The only word I can use for her is perfect. There is absolutely nothing wrong in her face. Madhuri’s sheer beauty gives you a head start. I also find her face extremely versatile. I can try the most exotic look with her because I know she can carry it off with confidence as if she were born with it." - Micky Contractor
“There is only one Madhuri Dixit and it is very hard to match up to her. Copying her looks, and dressing style was easy but there is a certain charm that she has, certain expressions, which are very Madhuri.” - Antara Mali
"A special chemistry that Madhubala and Madhuri possessed that transcends talent. It was as though there was no camera and they communicated directly with the audience.'' - Uday Kaushik
"Madhuri Dixit is the true symbol of versatility." - Frieda Pinto
"The camera merely rolls when other actresses emote. But when Madhuri Dixit gets into the act, the camera seems to stop dead in its tracks, watching her like an incorrigible voyeur. Time and again, she has worked with directors who can't equip her with the depth or contact that she's so capable of. Time and again, she has been crackerjack and the film a crashing bore. Obviously she hopscotches over the handicaps. What a Shyam Benegal, a Mani Ratnam or a Shekhar Kapur might do with her is a tantalising prospect. " - Jitesh Pillaii
“Mujhe lagta hain she is the best and she will always remain the best.” - Rituparna Sengupta
“My favourite actress is Madhuri Dixit, nobody compares to her.” - Aftab Shivasdani
"Madhuri is beautiful. I had only one opportunity to shoot her. We started at nine in the morning and wound up around 7 p.m. I had perhaps for this shoot like a student appearing for his final exams. I had discussed the kind of make-up I wanted to give her with the make artist weeks before. Even the clothes were finalised well in advance. She slipped in n out of costumes hour aftr hour with not even a momentary expression of fatigue or restlessness crossing her face. I was amazed when at the end of one of my busiest n longest days a still - ravishing Madhuri asked me if we could continue the shoot next day." - Sumeet Chopra
"Madhuri is the best thing to have happened to the industry." - Sonu Walia
“Madhuri Dixit is the best ever." - Vinay Pathak
“Talent is not age specific. Madhuri is a luminous talent and like a good single malt, she has only gotten better with age. If I did think of a project for her it would have to be something that does justice to her many skills. Something that pushes her into new areas while building on the immense love she already has with her audience.” - Vidhu Vinod Chopra
"It's almost impossible to have another Madhuri. I am not God to predict but thinking to have someone as complete as her is beyond my imagination." - Dharmendra
“She has the expression of classic tragic passion. She has the ability to portray a woman completely and entirely in love.” - Shekhar Kapur
“I loved watching Madhuri Dixit at work; I was in awe of her. She is a perfect dancer and actress and very hardworking. She was a big influence on me after Dil.” - Shweta Kumar

"Art cinema can be revived only by someone like Madhuri." - Shabana Amzi
"Madhuri is a very, how do you say... I have always liked her, from day one. I find her - besides being such a fabulous looker and all that - a very lovely, simple girl. Simple, simple girl, you know, the one you can take home to your mother kind. It's a fact. Because I was observing her on all the days of the shoot. God, she is so humble and so down-to-earth. And besides discussing dance we discussed all interesting topics, like life-after-death, UFOs, all of which she also believes in. Her parents too. I was really fascinated with her, and I enjoyed working with her a lot. A very talented and very professional girl. And her expressions are amazing." - Shiamak Davar
"Madhuri is all grace and she cannot be compared with anyone." - Shiamak Davar
"One of my favorites...is the sensational and poised Madhuri Dixit! The very mention of her name gets your minds racing with her dance numbers and graceful performances, not to forget that high voltage smile! From her 'Ek Do Teen' to 'Mera Piya Ghar Aaya' jumpy numbers, I have tried to copy her every step and bend to duplicate that effortless polish of hers but like the world knows-Madhuri Dixit is the one and only in our film industry. The charm and beauty she exudes is inexplicable and even a thousand words wouldn't do justice to her... She was and continues to be my idol and I don't aspire to be her but she does inspire me to be that lovely, refined Indian woman she is.... I was lucky enough to bump into her once a long time ago at a clinic but very obviously it was a very limited, formal and courteous exchange of greetings. Yes, I did feel that rage of excitement and scream out loud on seeing my idol in front of me, in person, just centimeters distant from me!... There have been a few instances when during shoots or dance sequences and performances, I have been complimented to remind people of Madhuri Dixit. And that makes my day ." - Shweta Tiwari
"Critics argued that the film (Hum Aapke Hain Kaun) was too sweet and she left some with a diabetic syndrome, but the fact was that she mesmerised on screen and everyone's eyes were fixed on her throughout, following her unknowingly. Since her dramatic entry on roller-skates in the film, and as she sang and waltzed through the picture, handling professionally the most complicated and emotionally demanding role effortlessly, she had the entire audience enthralled and India captive to 'Madhuri Mania'. With her perfect lip-synching, an impeccable Urdu pronunciation (despite being of Maharashtrian origin) and her command of a galaxy of expressions as well as being pleasing to the eye, a shining star had seemingly been born out of a dwindling meteor. But then, given her enviable reservoir of talent, this was inevitable and she personifies the ultimate female Indian star." – Fuad Omar
"My favourite heroine was, is and always will be Madhuri.“ – Subhash Ghai
„I think, somehow, Madhuri Dixit became a part of our Indian culture.“ – Simi Garewal
"Madhuri Dixit is such a devoted actress and dancer that hardly anyone in India has come to her level." - Mithun Chakraborty
"Madhuri has always been my favourite because in my opinion she is the best. I always thought that the dancer that she is, the face that she is, the smile that she is.... She is just too good." - Madhoo
"Madhuri has become my weakness. There are very few actors, who can surprise me, but she was so brilliant even I was mesmerized." - Raj Kumar Santoshi
"Whatever step was shown to her it was piece of cake for her, it seemed she had done rehearsal one month before!!!" - Chunky Panday
“Well I have been a fan of Madhuri Dixit, she was fantastic. She is whose performance I really like.” - Shahid Kapoor
"No matter how hard I worked, Madhuri was always ahead of me." - Juhi Chawla
“Madhuri Dixit was easily the last female superstar we had.” - Amod Mehra
"I simply adore few personalities and they have left a lasting impression on me. I simply love Madhuri Dixit — her dance style is mind-blowing." - Mumaith Khan
"She is a great artiste who is able to tap an unknown vibe from the atmosphere through antenna that nobody sees and bring them into the performance and create a kind of a subtext which raises every scene to a level much higher than what the conceiver had imagined." - Jaideep Sahni
"She is surely an actress every Bollywood filmmaker is waiting to work with.” - Prakash Jha
"Perhaps Madhuri knows now that she has nothing left to prove, and that she´s the last of the all-in-one female stars who could do drama and comedy and dance and also flash a smile that looked like a million bucks. You sense that confidence in her now - that almost regal imperiousness, born from the realisation that the instant she enters a scene, all eyes will turn to her - and she´s wonderful in this part where performer and person fuse into one." - Baradwaj Rangan
"She is a complete actor. There is a need for actors like her." - Raj N Sippy
"Madhuri is a delightful person, a brilliant actor and effortless in her work. She is simple yet sharp as an actor. She is a very good co-actor." - Anupam Kher
"She has the X-factor. It's not like I've done any magic on her to capture her beauty. Madhuri is a good actress who has achieved a lot because of her commitment and no ego." – Ashok Mehta
"Madhuri doesn't copy Madhubala but she does have the same abilities the same dramatic flair and sense of comic timing. Both have this ability to spoof themselves and both seem approachable but someone who cannot be possessed." - Sudhir Mishra
"She has a natural talent for acting and is a very versatile actress. I feel awed by her expressions and dancing. I must confess honestly that many times I do try to emulate Madhuri Dixit in my acting." - Preethi Chandrashekar
"Both she and Madhubala have the same enigma. The stars today have no dignity off screen and they are so available. This is a fantasy-land the stuff of dreams. You idolise your stars, you pretend to be like them. That's where the fun comes in. You can't bring out dirty linen in public and yet hope to remain a star. To me, Madhuri is the last number one heroine in the Hindi film industry and that comes from her iconic status." - Aseem Bajaj
"Madhuri is a very dedicated and co-operative artiste. She doesn´t fuss about anything." - Mahendra Soni
"In a lavish dance sequence (Dola Re), where Bhansali pits Madhuri against the much younger Aishwarya, you can see the latter has the slimmer waist, but the former´s moves, which come from within, put her all the way up there with the dancing greats. You can see that she is not just following the choreographer´s directions which can turn dance numbers into mere callisthenic exercises, she is in the moment, going with the flow, with all her being." - Shubhra Gupta
"Recently, I met Madhuri, Mrs Nene. I was working at Yashraj and I saw her there and I just couldn’t speak. I have worked with stalwarts and very big actors and I have never been so tongue-tied in my life. I think I am very articulate. So I made up my mind to go and talk. Then someone knocked on my door and it was someone from her staff saying she’d like to say hello. I said I would love to and I went to her room to say hello and I was tongue-tied all over again. That was one woman who captivated me all my childhood and my teenage years till I was a man. And no one in my generation matches her: that beauty, the dazzling smile, the expressive eyes, the performances that she ripped out one after the other. I have loved Beta, Raja, Tezaab, even Ram Lakhan in which she doesn’t have too much of a role but I used to go to see it just to watch her. I loved her." - Vivek Oberoi

"Madhuri - you´re not a good actress. Youŕ e not a good dancer and you´re definitely not a good human being. Because I feel that you are a fantastic actress. And outstanding dancer. And a fabulous human being. And that is from the bottom of my heart." - Anil Kapoor
"She personifies grace, she personifies beauty, she personifies sensuality in a subtle manner..... When you show her what to do you can be sure she´ll do it 100 times better than what you´ve shown her." - Vaibhavi Merchant
"She embodies everything a woman should be." - Vaibhavi Merchant
"She´s that kind of person who can carry off the whole dance sequence with only expressing. She needs not dance, she should just snad she should just express herself and voila!" - Vaibhavi Merchant
"You can´t take your eyes off her when she moves." - Ranvir Shorey
"Every time I was next to her I could feel a tingling all over my body. It was such a thrill to be working with someone as great as Madhuri. For a person who holds such an esteemed position in the industry she exudes an unbelievable down-to-earth vibe, besides having such a humble nature. It's hard not to get star-struck when she's around you." - Ranvir Shorey
"She is a screen Goddess. One has to work with her to understand her aura." - Ranvir Shorey

"Madhuri is like a beautiful gift. She´s very talented, very hard-working, very good looking and very easy to work with." - Aamir Khan
"Take any film of Madhuri Dixit and you´ll see, that it doesn´t matter if the film is a winner or not - Madhuri Dixit is always the hero of the movie." - Vikram Phadnis
"There are actresses and there are actresses. And then there is Madhuri Dixit." - Vikram Phadnis
"She is a better human being than an actor. And I think that goodnes, which is in her reflects on screen. So I think more than having introduced Madhuri Dixit a star, we are proud to have introduced a very very god human being to the film industry." - Rajat Barjatya
"She is the most wonderful human being. Everybody knows that, she is a wonderful actress to add to that people have been complementing her performances all over the years. Of course she is a wonderful artist, she is a wonderful human being, the most hassle free artiste." - Yash Chopra
"I have never seen her cribbing about anything or shirk any responsibility. I always knew that the industry will call her back and I am happy that she is making a comeback... She is the queen of Bollywood and always be so. Over the years, Madhuri has turned out to be a fantastic actress, a graceful dancer and a dedicated mother. This is one woman to get inspired from. " - Yash Chopra
“You don’t make anyone like Madhuri anymore. She is beautiful, superbly talented, and the most stunning dancer we have seen. Only if my name was Nene!" - Nana Patekar

"She's the entire package. You couldn't segregate her as an actress or a fine looker or a dancer. There was a charisma about her. She was the representative of the quintessential Indian woman in the post Nargis and Madhubala years." - Minisha Lamba

"You know at Jubar, when the first assault did not bring the desired result, the soldiers camped at the base for one night.

„I think, somehow, Madhuri Dixit became a part of our Indian culture.“ – Simi Garewal

"Whatever step was shown to her it was piece of cake for her, it seemed she had done rehearsal one month before!!!" - Chunky Panday
